4-1-1 MOT Proposal

The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has proposed a new 4-1-1 MOT plan that would change the way vehicles are inspected and tested. This plan aims to reduce the number of annual MOT tests and make them more efficient, while still ensuring that vehicles on the road are safe and roadworthy. Under the current system, all vehicles over three years old are required to have an annual MOT test.

The new 4-1-1 plan would change this to a 4-year initial test, followed by annual inspections for the next 3 years, and then a biennial (every 2 years) test thereafter. This would mean that some vehicles would only be required to have an MOT test every two years, instead of annually.

The 4-1-1 plan would not change the existing standards or procedures for MOT tests, and vehicles would still be inspected for roadworthiness and emissions, as well as compliance with other regulations. However, the proposal would allow for more flexibility in how and when vehicles are tested, making the process more efficient and convenient for everyone involved..

While the 4-1-1 MOT plan is still in proposal stage, it is important to keep track of any updates and to understand how it will impact you. At Euro Motaparts, we will strive to keep you informed on any changes and how it may affect you.

In conclusion, the 4-1-1 MOT plan is a proposed change to the current system that aims to reduce the number of annual MOT tests and make them more efficient, while still ensuring that vehicles on the road are safe and roadworthy. The proposal is still in the early stages, but it is important for vehicle owners to stay informed about any updates and how it may affect them in the future.

Our industry has launched a petition to stop the 4-1-1 MOT proposal feeling that it could lead to casualties and even deaths caused by vehicle defects that go would go unmissed. The petition runs until 23rd July 2023 and the government will respond if it reaches 1000 signatures and if it reaches 100,000 it will be considered for debate in parliament.

The petition can be found here and as this is typed its already reached over 2000 signatures https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/631650
